The 47th Assizes of Tsaghkadzor, in Armenia on the theme, “Media and Migration” formally closed on Thursday, 11 October with the adoption of a number of resolutions to deal more responsibly with issues related to migration.
The participants considered that migration has always been part of history. And if they have been in the spotlight for a few decades, it is simply because the range of immigration has excessively branded the estimate of international migrants.
According to statistics, there are about 25 million, or just under 3 percent of the world’s population. And 75% of this population works and contributes to the economy, including in the host countries. But from that, the media never talk about it.
The media therefore has the ethical duty to lift the curtain of sensationalism to watch the migrants and see behind the boats that capsize, the squat disguised and people who are sent home without respite.
Participants were asked to deconstruct speeches and reach consensus on issues related to immigration.
