Lagos: Second Edition of the Francophone Africa Business Summit (FABS)
The Francophone Africa Business Summit (FABS) is a flagship event organized by Epena Law, aimed at promoting economic relations between the francophone and anglophone regions of Africa. The second edition will take place on February 18-19, 2025 in Lagos, Nigeria, under the theme “Consolidating Growth in Africa: Capitalizing on Opportunities”.
Background and Objectives
With a francophone population of over 167 million people in sub-Saharan Africa, francophone countries represent significant potential for cross-border trade and investment. FABS was designed to strengthen ties between francophone and anglophone economies in Africa, facilitating strategic partnerships and economic collaborations. The inaugural edition in 2024 established a platform for dialogue between policymakers, business leaders, and investors, focusing on exploring business opportunities across the continent.
The 2025 edition aims to build on this momentum by bringing together influential leaders from various sectors to address challenges and growth prospects in Africa. The summit will highlight key areas such as finance, extractive industries, technology, agriculture, and energy, while promoting strategies for increased economic integration between African markets.
Program Structure
The FABS 2025 program is structured to encourage productive exchanges among participants through expert panels, thematic workshops, and B2B meetings. Notable elements of the program include:
- Thematic panels dedicated to economic trends, regulatory frameworks, and expansion strategies in Africa.
- Specialized workshops on topics such as SME financing, digital transformation, and infrastructure development.
- Strategic networking sessions, enabling participants to establish connections and explore collaboration opportunities.
- Exclusive lunches and dinners, including a dedicated session for women leaders as part of the Business Women in Africa initiative.
Key Initiatives
The event also features the Business Women in Africa (BWA) initiative, which aims to strengthen women’s leadership in Africa. This program provides a platform for female executives and entrepreneurs to exchange experiences and develop strategic partnerships.
Target Audience and Partners
FABS attracts a diverse audience, including business leaders, policymakers, investors, and thought leaders from over 50 countries. The previous edition in 2024 welcomed more than 250 participants, supported by around 15 partners and sponsors.
Choice of Location: Lagos
Lagos was chosen for its central role in the economic dynamism of sub-Saharan Africa. As a financial and commercial hub, the city provides an ideal environment for exchanges between francophone and anglophone economies, fostering interregional collaborations.
Conclusion
The Francophone Africa Business Summit 2025 positions itself as a leading platform for exploring growth opportunities in Africa. This event aims to catalyze fruitful exchanges among the continent’s economic players through a structured program and strategic initiatives promoting increased economic integration.
