Rabat: Capacity-Building Workshop for the Development of Regional Value Chains in Electric Mobility
The Capacity-Building Workshop for the Development of Regional Value Chains in Electric Mobility will take place in Rabat from January 16 to 19, 2025. This workshop focuses on the potential of value chains and market opportunities in the electric mobility sector, considering the context of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The event will bring together participants from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Morocco, and Zambia, aiming to enhance local capacities to develop effective value chains in electric mobility. Discussions will cover the opportunities offered by electric mobility to stimulate innovation and economic growth in these three countries.
Workshop sessions will include presentations on best practices for developing value chains, as well as case studies showcasing successes in the e-mobility sector. Participants will also have the chance to share their experiences and explore regional partnerships to promote the development of electric mobility.
Sector experts will provide in-depth analyses of current market trends and future forecasts. The workshop aims to identify key challenges and opportunities for each participating country within the AfCFTA framework, to promote effective regional integration.
Working groups will be organized to develop concrete strategies and recommendations for improving electric mobility value chains. Participants will be trained on tools and techniques to optimize production and distribution processes in the e-mobility sector.
Additionally, networking sessions will allow key stakeholders in electric mobility to meet and explore new collaborations. The workshop’s conclusions will be summarized in a detailed report, which will serve as a reference for future policies on electric mobility in the region.
This workshop represents a valuable opportunity to strengthen regional capacities and promote sustainable development of electric mobility in Africa, while leveraging the benefits offered by the AfCFTA.
Organizer
The North Africa Sub-Regional Office of ECA, located in Rabat, Morocco, is led by a director under the direct authority of the Deputy Executive Secretary in charge of programs. Its main responsibilities include:
a) Strengthening the capacity of member states to develop and implement national policies and strategies for sustainable job creation;
b) Contributing to the implementation of sub-regional development priorities in line with the 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063, considering youth and women’s perspectives;
c) Improving macroeconomic and fiscal policies for sustainable growth;
d) Providing technical assistance to member states, regional economic communities, and intergovernmental organizations to support economic, social, and political transformation, focusing on employment, skills, and balanced development, ensuring inclusive growth and equal opportunities for women and youth.
