Algeria relies on quality to make domestic production an alternative to imported products

Algerian Minister of Commerce, Said Djellab, announced on February 11, 2019, the opening of the 2nd economic forum on the experience of development of economic poles in border areas in Souk Ahras that « the control of quality and compliance International standards for Algerian products are a fundamental condition for making domestic production an alternative to imported products.  »

According to him, « the success of multiple companies to offer quality products that have made their way internationally » is thanks to the fact that the country has « managed for several years to establish a national, regional development base and international « .

« A rich program for the next two years of participation in trade shows around the world » is implemented to consolidate the place of Algerian products on the national market then, in another phase, their support to foreign markets, added the former director general of foreign trade.

Note that Algeria’s trade deficit amounted to $ 2.05 billion over the first eight (8) months of 2018, compared with a deficit of $ 8.19 billion in the same period of 2017, a significant decrease of nearly 75%. Between January and the end of August, imports fell slightly to 30.394 billion USD against 31.142 billion USD in 2017, a decrease of 748 million dollars.
